THE MOMENCE POLICE DEPARTMENT IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE POSITION OF FULL-TIME & PART-TIME POLICE OFFICERS
The City of Momence is accepting applications for immediate openings for one full-time Police Officer and three part-time Police Officers. This position requires a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to, protective service work in the prevention, detection, and investigation of crime while actively promoting and directing citizen involvement in these efforts.
The ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instruction, exercise initiative and discretion in emergency situations, use firearms, make decisions based upon department policy and training, deal with the public in a tactful manner, and communicate orally and in writing are necessary to perform this job. All candidates must be able to successfully complete the Momence Police Departments 8-week Field Training Program.
REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be 21 years of age, a citizen of the United States, possess a valid driver's license and be of strong moral and ethical standards, personally and professionally. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, an Associate's Degree or higher is preferred. Participation in and successful completion of all stages of the testing process, including, but not limited to, oral interview, extensive background investigation, and post offer drug test is required. Conviction of a felony or certain misdemeanors, as defined by statute, will disqualify candidates from consideration. Candidates who hold a current, valid State Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer, (Full-Time or Part-Time), in accordance with ILCS 50/705, may be given hiring preference.
SALARY & BENEFITS: Starting Salary for full-time police officers as of 05/01/2016 is $40,541.00, overtime at time and one-half after 8 hours/40 hours per week, 8 paid holidays, 3 personal days, vacation benefits, 12-hours work schedule – rotating days off, paid court time, uniform allowance and life, medical and dental insurance pursuant to the current collective bargaining agreement. The rate of pay for Part-Time Police Officers is $17.00 an hour.
